Advertorial
I'm chuffed to bits to announce that I am one of the 30 bloggers in the UK chosen to be an 'Alpha-seeder' for microblogging app Dayre!
The timing couldn't be more perfect or fortuitous, as lately I've been inundated with emails and curious friends asking me 'How does one get into blogging?', 'How does one go about writing a blog?' and especially 'How do you even find the time to sit down and blog?!' To that I answer, perhaps you could start with microblogging?
Dayre is a new app that makes blogging from a smartphone so easy and so effortless. An online diary of sorts, you can post photos and videos with lots of artsy(and more importantly flattering *cough*) filters, stickers, bite-sized blog posts, check-ins, and quotes throughout the day. Dayre will compile all of it to form a narrative, a story if you will, according to day.
It's the social media equivalent of hurriedly scribbling notes on random bits of paper you find in the bottom of your handbag, and at the end of the day opening your bag to find a scrapbook waiting for you, with all your bits of paper already neatly pasted in chronological order.
Practising my "Gimme all your money and gimme all your residuals" face with Dayre's photo filters.
Without realising it or even trying you suddenly find yourself with a blog heaving with content. All you had to do was to quickly upload something---a selfie, a video, a few sentences, a sticker---whenever the urge struck you.
Better still, you can 'forward' your Dayre content by sharing it to Facebook and Twitter. No corner of the internet shall be safe from my pervasive brilliance *evil laugh*
Afflicted by sudden spurts of inspiration and a propensity to share your thoughts instantly, but find yourself forgetting your strokes of genius and hence losing them to that great black hole of absentmindedness? Dayre is a God-send for busy people like you.
How Downton Abbey season 4 should end, according to me.
Do you, in your haste and excitement to immortalise your never ending stream of ideas on the internet or social media for all to bear witness, update your Facebook so often that your friends get irritated and hide you from their news feeds? True story---I've always had a problem with verbal diarrhoea. I used to treat Twitter like a blog---a stream of twelve tautological tweets (behold my aliteration!) expressing the same thought was not unusual---and Facebook notes like essays. After all why use 140 characters when 1,400 words will do? It's fine, that's the whole point of Dayre. Besides, Dayre collates everything into a single post so nobody can accuse you of being all over the place!
Find your usual social media platforms lacking? Do you want the best aspects of different apps (stickers, quotations, video, photo filters etc.) all conveniently tied up in one package? Dayre has stickers for every occasion (check out the one of a cat running away from a lizard, below! It's perfect for Sheena-chan), video/photo filters to hide dark eye circles (a prerequisite for me), and a check-in function to give your friends serious social envy and FOMO (check-in to Shoreditch House, done).
And of course one can do all of this on the go from one's smartphone! Behold Dayre's ease of use...
At The Birdcage pub on Columbia Road. It's a matter of time before I take the 'Life In The UK test' so I can get a passport. Part of my plan to assimilate into British culture is to go to the pub, drink scotch, and read the Sunday paper.
Shopping for flowers at Columbia Road flower market. A saucy vendor waved a giant orchid at me from his stall and hollered in thick Cockney "Here's a nice big one! Do you like big ones, Miss?" I retorted "WHO DOESN'T?!" to uproarious applause and cheers from the crowd.
My tote is from Anya Hindmarch (it retails at £165 but now it's going for £82.50 on The Outnet), my cat ears are River Island, and my phone case is by Swatch. Everything else is so old (by old I mean last season at least) that they have sold out.
Taking selfies and photos for my Dayre microblog.
More photos from my flower market outing, some of which you may have already seen on Dayre? I foresee in the future a lot of my content on Dayre being the catalyst for longer blog posts on Posh, Broke, & Bored or even completely different and original posts in their own right. Best follow me on Dayre as well, to be sure to be sure *bad Irish accent*.
The content on Posh, Broke, & Bored tends to be more 'editorial' and structured. I seldom blog about my day-to-day (can you see me posting thirty photos of me standing in a supermarket aisle and ever so slyly using my arms to push my cleavage together while coyly holding my shopping basket in front of me? No.) on here, rather I reserve this blog for special events and moments that stand out. Of course that means that the occasional beautiful moment or bright spark that happens on a mundane day tends to get lost in the crowd. Happily, with my Dayre microblog, these little things are less likely to slip through the sieve.
The difference? Blog posts on Posh, Broke & Bored are longer and contrived (not in a bad way) and tend to be 3-5 times a week. My Dayre microblog will have short, frequent, almost daily updates with none of my usual carefully cultivated pomp and circumstance. I suppose this makes my microblogposts (one word? two words? hyphenated?) on Dayre more 'honest', more 'now', more 'impulsive', and flow more freely than my usual blog posts that take me hours to plan, write and edit. This also means that my content on Dayre is less 'filtered' and more frank, so now no one can accuse me of hiding behind a glossy facade. I suppose if Posh, Broke, & Bored is Lady Mary than my Dayre microblog is Lady Sybil.

As for you, dear reader, I highly encourage you to download Dayre and give microblogging a try. Who knows, this could be the birth of something special...? Perchance you could be the Shakespere of blogging. At the very least you get to share with friends, family, and followers bits and pieces of your day, inspirations, craft, recipes, and hilarious photos of your cat.
Download Dayre for free from iTunes or Google Play and follow me on Dayre for bite-sized hilarity.
