Halloween; The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

I'm on a roll. I've met two of my art heroes in a week. The first was journalist and comic artist Joe Sacco on Sunday
The second was legendary photographer Ellen Von Unwerth on Halloween at Le Baron, London.
Surprisingly for me I didn't take many pictures that night...even more so as I was so excited for Halloween, having planned my outfits for weeks ahead...I was in a funny mood that night, not least because I couldn't get my fangs to fit nor because the red eyelashes I bought looked revolting (and not in a good way) when I put them on.

The Good--- I met Ellen Von Unwerth and regaled to her the amusing tale of how I woke up one night, checked my Instagram and saw that she liked one of my photos. I promptly pounced on sleeping Dale and bounced up and down screaming "Baaaaaby! Ellen Von Unwerth likes my photo! LOOK!" and the poor thing just mumbled "What? Who? Great. Stop buzzing around like a fruit fly on amphetamines!" I think she found the story funny. Le Baron was packed and ever so festive that it gave me hope for London nightlife. Max is finally back from Kabul and somewhat still in one piece. Everyone looked amazing. And the black cars on the Uber map were replaced with pumpkins and broomsticks, which was a nice festive touch.

The Bad--- Actions speak louder than words, and some actions certainly made it even clearer that my intuition, no, knowledge, about certain people is, as always, absolutely right. Trust no b*tch, fear no man.  I have a raging hangover, never mix whisky and champagne. I felt so ill the next day that I had to miss two amazing Halloween parties. This year was a bit of a let down.

The Ugly--- I shan't say.

Halloween really is a night where ghouls and ghastly things come out to play. I find it amusing that on this night of masks and disguises people let their guards down and their true nature becomes more apparent. It really is true that in the safety of the dark and behind the facade of a costume we are freerer to be ourselves, the good, the bad, and the ugly.
